Terms of Service
Welcome to Klypt. By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app. We've kept this short and written it in plain English.
1. What Klypt is
Klypt is a mobile app from Pacio LLC, a Michigan limited liability company. It scans documents using your device's camera, extracts text from those scans (OCR) on your device, and helps you organize them into folders and tags. You can also import existing PDFs and images via your device's file picker, and share your scans out to other apps via your device's share sheet. Klypt has a free version (with banner ads) and a one-time in-app purchase that removes ads.
Klypt is currently on-device only. There is no Klypt server, no Klypt cloud, and no Klypt user account. Future versions may offer optional cloud backup as a paid subscription; if and when we add cloud features, they will be strictly opt-in, and these Terms will be updated.
2. Who can use Klypt
You must be at least 18 years old to use Klypt. Klypt is designed for adult use. Do not let children under 13 use the app, and do not use the app on behalf of a child.
Klypt does not require an account. There is no sign-up, no password, and no profile. Your scans live in Klypt's app-private storage on your device.
3. The in-app purchase
Klypt's free tier shows banner ads. You can permanently remove ads with a one-time $1.99 USD in-app purchase, sold through your device's app store (price shown in your local currency at the store's regional rates).
- One-time purchase, no subscription. You pay once. There is no recurring charge, no auto-renewal, and no monthly fee.
- Restore on reinstall. The purchase is tied to your app-store account (Google Play account on Android; Apple ID on iOS). Reinstalling Klypt or installing on a new device with the same account restores ad removal — open Settings → Remove ads → Restore.
- Refunds. Your device's app store handles refunds. We do not issue refunds directly. See your store's refund pages: Google Play (Android) or Apple (iOS).
- EU / UK / CH consumers — 14-day withdrawal right. Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (and equivalent UK and Swiss law), you would normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from an online purchase. By making the in-app purchase, you expressly request immediate delivery of the digital content and acknowledge that you waive your 14-day withdrawal right. Your device's app store surfaces an equivalent confirmation as part of the standard purchase flow.
4. How you can use the app
Use Klypt for personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code from the app.
- Resell, redistribute, sublicense, or commercially exploit Klypt or its components.
- Use automated tools to extract data from the app or to bypass any feature limits.
- Circumvent the in-app purchase mechanism or attempt to remove ads without paying.
- Scan or store illegal content of any kind, including (without limitation) child sexual abuse material, fraud instruments, stolen identification documents, or any other content the possession of which is illegal in your jurisdiction.
- Use the app to harass, defraud, or harm any person.
If you violate any of the above, your license to use Klypt automatically terminates and you must uninstall the app.
5. Your data and what we don't have
Klypt is designed to keep your data on your device. We do not have a Klypt server. We never receive your scans, your OCR text, your folder names, or any other content you create in the app. The Privacy Policy at klyptapp.com/privacy explains the small amount of data that goes to Google's services (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics), to your device's app store (in-app-purchase processing), and to RevenueCat (in-app-purchase management) so the app can function and so we can fix bugs.
Klypt opts out of operating-system-level automatic cloud backup. Your scans are not copied to your device's cloud-backup system (Google account backup on Android; iCloud backup on iOS).
Anything you scan and store in Klypt belongs to you. Pacio LLC does not claim ownership of your scans or extracted text. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the Klypt app for as long as you comply with these Terms; we retain ownership of the app, its code, brand, design, and the Klypt name.
6. Health and medical information
Klypt is a household organizing tool. Please do NOT store medical records, vaccination cards, health insurance cards, prescription details, lab results, or other health information in Klypt. If you do, you do so at your own risk and outside the scope of HIPAA protection. Pacio LLC is not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate.
7. Our intellectual property
The Klypt app, the "Klypt" name, the Klypt logo, the brand system, the user-interface design, the icon set, the default folder structure, the in-app copy, and the underlying code are intellectual property of Pacio LLC. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app for as long as you comply with these Terms. You do not receive ownership.
You may not use the Klypt name, logo, or brand assets in your own products, marketing, or services without prior written permission from Pacio LLC.
8. No warranty — app is provided "as is"
We built Klypt to be useful, but we do not guarantee:
- That OCR text extraction will be accurate or complete for every document.
- That edge detection or auto-cropping will produce a clean scan of every document.
- That your device's camera, storage, or operating system will always work as expected with Klypt.
- That the app will be free of bugs, uninterrupted, or always available.
- That any specific feature (rotation, crop, search, tags, restore, etc.) will work as you expect on every device or in every situation.
Klypt is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of any document important to you. Klypt is not a backup service.
9. Limit of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law:
- Pacio LLC is not liable for lost scans, lost OCR text, missed deadlines (because you scanned a tax form into Klypt and the app crashed), property damage, financial loss, identity theft, or any other indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.
- If we are found liable for anything, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Pacio LLC for Klypt in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US$50.00.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these kinds of limits. If you live in one, these clauses apply to the maximum extent allowed by your local law.
10. You indemnify us
If a third party makes a claim against Pacio LLC because of something you did through Klypt — scanning content you didn't have the right to scan, violating someone's rights or privacy, breaking these Terms, breaking any law — you agree to cover Pacio LLC's reasonable legal costs and any damages awarded.
11. Termination
You can stop using Klypt and uninstall it at any time. Uninstalling deletes your scans from your device.
We can revoke your license to use the app if you materially violate these Terms (Sections 4, 5, or 7 in particular). Because Klypt has no user account and no server, there is no "account" for us to terminate; revocation in practice means you must stop using the app and uninstall it.
12. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we will post the new version at klyptapp.com/terms and update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes — anything that affects your rights, the in-app purchase, or what data we collect — we will notify you in the app at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means you accept the new Terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in state or federal courts located in Genesee County, Michigan, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that grants you mandatory consumer rights, this Section does not limit those mandatory local rights.
Informal resolution first. Before filing any formal complaint, please email us at support@klyptapp.com with a description of the issue. We will respond in good faith within 30 days. Many issues can be resolved without escalation.
14. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Pacio LLC regarding Klypt. They supersede any prior or contemporaneous agreements about the app. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
